Godet slash

Yes, I am slashing my dress to put in the godets. This is the most terrifying thing I have ever done while sewing! Three down, four to go.

What is the most terrifying thing you have done on a project?

  1. Oh my goodness, that looks completely terrifying!

I think the scariest thing I've done was cut the fabric for the embroidered silk coat I made for my friend. Scary because the fabric cost £85 a metre and I knew I'd have to replace it if I did it wrong!

    1. Ooh, £85 a metre would put me on edge!

  2. Goodness, you must have had to psych yourself up to make that cut. I am really looking forward to seeing your finished dress :)

    1. I did. I watched the first two and then did the third on my own. The actual process isn't too bad but you have to get the cut right otherwise it is ruined! That's where the pressure is.

  5. This dress is going to be stunning! I haven't seen that method for cutting/placing godets before - thanks for posting it :) You'd definitely need a few deep breaths before attempting that one!
My most terrifying sewing "moment" was the hour or so between pinning and cutting out my sister's wedding dress. I found all sorts of other things that suddenly and urgently needed my attention first...

    1. Amazing how that happens! The actual cutting of the dress has been the easy part. It is getting the points at the top to look like a point that is my current headache!
