My first giveaway!

Have you seen the different groups of patterns that are flying across the blogsphere? Well, amazingly my name came out of the hat over at Flossie's. When I got back to the office this week there was a big brown envelope waiting for me that contained the following patterns.

Patterns part 1
Patterns part 2

I tried to leave the package sealed until I got home but I just couldn't. I also showed them to a couple of colleagues who were full of advice on which patterns would look great when made. After quite a lot of debate with four or five, I decided to research them. Within the space of 45 minutes I decided to keep these two.

My finds

The Vogue pattern is so versatile for both work and play dresses and the fabric combinations are practically endless. I've been after a Cynthia Rowley pattern for a while but couldn't decide which one. I'm not keen on the slit in the back but with a little tweaking I can make it work for me. I'm quite tempted by view D, the short one without sleeves.

Now for the fun bit. All of the other patterns are up for grabs by you guys. I've also added a couple from my collection as I like the thought of these parcels continuing for a while.

New additions

But that isn't all! I wanted to offer a giveaway when I got back to mark a milestone with my blog. When I first started blogging I honestly didn't believe that anyone would be interested enough in my chatter to come back regularly but I have recently passed 150 known followers! Needless to say, I'm a little proud that my efforts are appreciated and you all enjoy visiting here.

"But what is the extra?" I hear you cry? 2 meters of the blue with white spot fabric that I bought in Zadar recently. I bought enough for me to make something as well as someone else. I did my first burn test on it and the results were a little inconclusive but I have narrowed it down to nylon or silk. Given the texture I think it is probably nylon or a mix but it has a lovely drape and would make a nice top of some sort or perhaps a lining for a jacket.

Light Blue spots

You can enter for just the patterns, just the fabric, or both, by leaving a comment below that tells me your preference plus what is on your sewing table. Please note that you need an active blog for the patterns so you can offer them again. The giveaway closes on 31st August. I'm happy to ship anywhere.

Good luck!

  2. You lucky! That's a nice selection of patterns to choose from.
I can't take part in the pattern giveaway as I don't have a blog (too lazy, I know!), but I'd love to enter the one for the fabric. It's a lovely shade of blue.
Thank you for the giveaway and congratulations on the over 150 followers! Keep it going!

  5. Congratulations on reaching 150 followers, that's fantastic!

The fabric would look great as a lining for the coat I've decided to make myself this winter, and there's a couple of patterns I like the look of, so please enter me for both.

    1. Aww, thanks Kat! You would have to be amazingly descriptive if you started blogging. Good luck with the curtain.

  11. I'd love to be entered for both, the fabric is fantastic (says the girl with the polka dot obsession)! Right now I've got a Colette Peony on my sewing table. It's nearly done, I might even finish tonight.

  12. Congratulations on your 150 followers! I've really enjoyed being one of them.

Please can you enter me for the patterns. While that pale blue is unspeakably gorgeous, I couldn't ever realistically see myself wearing it, so best that it goes to someone who can really make it fly.

  13. Congrats on 150.

One day I'll get back to blogging again, but since I haven't in over a year, enter me for the fabric only

  14. I don't know if you have any restrictions on location but i'm in the UK and if that's ok then I would like to enter for both please :)

Congrats on getting 150 followers - any advice for increasing follower numbers? I've had my blog for a few years now and never get anywhere! I know that more persistant posting would help (although there are many blogs I follow that post very rarely so maybe it isn't the be all and end all) but it gets a bit discouraging when you hardly ever get comments or new followers!

    1. Hi Lucy, UK is perfectly fine! Do you have a email address? Or get in touch through mine and I'll see if I can help you a little.

    2. Hey Lucy, when I click on your name above, it doesn't display your blogger profile - it says it can't be displayed, so maybe it's set to private or something - which means that I can't link through to see your blog at all. I often visit blogs of people who have left comments on posts I like (like this one!) and the follow them from there, so maybe that's part of the problem - people can't get to your blog from comments that you leave on other blogs. I dont use blogger, so I'm not sure how you change it, but you should be able to. I'm also happy to help if you like :) Kelly

    3. Thank you for the responses, it is very sweet of both of you - I feel ashamedly whingy now, I was just having one of those days!

I think I have fixed the blogger profile thing, I didn't realise that it had gone from my blog, it still showed it was there in the layout so I'm not sure what happened! Thank you for pointing it out :)

My email is lucylovell at gmail dot com - any advice would be so very much appreciated (and if my blog is just plain rubbish, and that is the problem, then be honest haha!)

    4. I think I might have stumbled upon the problem with my name linking through to my blog, if you are reading posts through bloglovin' with the "toolbar" thing at the top, it won't let you go through to anybodies profile! (Or at least it hasn't let me do so.) xx

    5. It let me see most even through bloglovin', but yours is working now too, yay! :)

  15. Congratulations on 150 followers :) good work!

So many lovely patterns there, I really want to give the Hazel a go! Please can I be entered for both of giveaways? :)

On my sewing table(/strewn across my living room) at the moment is that Simplicity 1913 pattern you added to the bundle. Just the hem to do now, and then I can move onto any one of about 5 projects I have lined up, can't decide which to start next!

  16. I just arrived here from Pinworks :)
I will do a blouse course and Intermediate Dressmaking course with them this Autumn and can't wait!
I just had a read of your blog, really enjoyed it and love the fact that you're also based in Oxford :) I read quite a few crafty blogs, but none as close as yours!

I would be interested in both the patterns and the fabric, if possible. Having just finished a Sorbetto top, I'm currently planning what to do next... so many options! In the meantime, I'm knitting a Little Birds cardi :)

  17. Hello! I'd love to join in, I think its so great that these keep on going! I'd love to enter for the patterns please :-) great choices of pattern by the way. Can't wait to see how they turn out.

On my sewing table is my wedding dress, just spent an absolute fortune on lace for it and now panicking about cutting into it!

  18. Hey! Congrats on reaching 150 followers! I thought I was doing well to reach 50! :)

What a great haul of patterns! I'd happily be entered for either them. The fabric is really pretty, but I do have a well documented dislike of synthetics, so I will let someone less fussy have it!

Question - how and why did you research them? Don't you just look at the pictures on the front and decide which is the prettiest? That's what I would do!

    1. Hi Helen, I did look at the drawings to try and work out if they would look good but I was struggling to decide between them. I quite often look up a pattern (often just in Google) to see how it looks in real life, it helps me work out whether the pattern will suit me. I also used Pattern Review to read up on the construction, this time round I was put off by patterns which had a lot of reviews saying it needed altering (feeling a little lazy this time round!)

  19. I've recently started following your blog. Congratulations on your numbers! I love the idea of the pattern parcel. I'm a new starter and have hardly anyso please enter me! My last make was a Miette skirt (as yet unblogged) which is lovely but I've since discovered I have nothing to wear with it! Thinking a white jersey pavlova top might work with the high waist so that'll be my next project.

  20. Congrats on so many followers! Could I be entered for the fabric please? Thanks! Unfortunately there's nothing on my sewing table at the moment but I am knitting my very first scarf...

  21. Oooh, I'd like to be in with a chance of winning both please! On my sewing table at the mo, is an almost-finished jersey scout tee, and an almost finished Elisalex! Then I think my next project might be some Tania culottes. x
